Alabama Head Injury Foundation
AHIF is a statewide 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides support services to survivors of traumatic brain injury and to their families. These services are provided in the initial, chaotic times immediately following the injury, and also life-long as survivors and families adjust to their “new normal” and as new needs, challenges and developments occur in the years following the injury.
Their services include respite care, resource coordination, recreational camps, therapy-based camps, mental health counseling and support groups.

AlabamaTbi.org provides virtual resources, education and training for individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury, Families and Professionals in Alabama. Special focus areas include Traumatic Brain Injury -Screening, Concussion, Return to Learn after Head Injury for Classroom Teachers, Employment, Mental Health and Veterans. The Federal TBI Grant Partnership Program (Administration for Community Living) supports this website in coordination with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services.

Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services
Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services provides a Traumatic Brain Injury Program for Children from birth to age 21 (Children’s Rehabilitation Services) and Adults (TBI Program, Pre-Vocational, Vocational Rehabilitation). Traumatic Brain Injury Care Coordinators/Counselors who are specially trained in Traumatic Brain Injury coordinate with each individual and family who are eligible to provide services to return to independence, school, employment and/or community. Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services also coordinates the Alabama Head and Spinal Cord Trauma Registry, the Alabama Head Injury Task Force and the Alabama Head and Spinal Cord Injury Trust Fund.
