The Importance of Drug Education.
Education about substance misuse is an important part of helping individuals understand the many aspects of this topic. This information can include factual data about what substance misuse is; warning signs of dependence; information about how alcohol and specific drugs affect the mind and body; as well as the consequences that dependence can have on one’s physical and mental health, family, relationships, and other areas of functioning.
This awareness can help them realize the potential damage that could occur or the damage that has already occurred. Substance misuse education may also include information about what treatment entails to prepare everyone involved for the potential outcomes.
We encourage interested patients to learn more about the various substances that could be causing complications.
Alcohol
Low-risk does not indicate no risk. When following low-risk drinking limits a person may still experience problems if they drink too quickly, have health problems, or are older. Following the chart below can reduce your risk but one should always consult with a provider when concerned about how drinking alcohol could be affecting their health.
