This closed-door gathering provides an opportunity to learn about evidence-based and emerging practices that support public safety, recovery, and positive community reintegration for justice-involved individuals impacted by substance use. Participants will gain insights into successful programs, sustainability approaches, cross-system collaboration models, and practical strategies for developing and maintaining recovery-focused initiatives. Sessions will also provide opportunities to learn from and coordinate with state agencies, community partners, and support service providers to strengthen public safety efforts. Overall, the conference is designed to enhance recovery outcomes, reduce recidivism, and build stronger community-based systems of care and support.

What is Project Possibilities?
Project Possibilities has provided treatment opportunities for those who use opioids and stimulants to decrease rates of recidivism throughout the state of Alabama. Through a combined effort by ADMH, VitAL, ABPP, ROSS, and PEIR, Project Possibilities has provided education and training for professionals in and around the justice system.
Project Possibilities is a collaborative effort initiated by ADMH, VitAL, community supervision agencies, and peer support specialist organizations. This project works to develop, implement, and expand a combination of law enforcement diversion programs and provide real-time data collection, analysis, and dissemination. Project Possibilities has worked to incorporate medication-assisted treatment/medications for opioid use disorder, as well as peer support recovery services, into existing service systems in the State of Alabama, specifically in Calhoun, DeKalb, Etowah, Jefferson, Madison, Mobile, Montgomery, and Walker counties.

Lodging and Travel
Conference Location: Perdido Beach Resort, 27200 Perdido Beach Blvd, Orange Beach, AL 36561
Lodging: No cost. Hotel accommodations are provided through the conference. Each attendee will receive single room accommodations at either Perdido Beach Resort or Island House Hotel, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Accommodations will be provided for three nights (8/30-9/2). Any additional nights will be at the discretion of the attendee/agency and will need to be reserved independently and paid for separately.

Mileage/Transportation: Transportation costs, including mileage reimbursement, to and from the conference are the responsibility of the agency/organization per their reimbursement/payment policy.
Meals/Per diem: Meals provided include Breakfast on Day 1-3, Lunch on Day 1-2, and a Welcome Reception/Dinner on Day 1. All other meals are the responsibility of the agency/organization per their reimbursement/payment policy.

Continuing Education
Continuing Education for the following professions is pending approval for up to 15 credit hours.
ASBSWE: The University of Alabama is an approved provider of continuing education by the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners (Provider #0290). This training offers social workers 15 general contact hours.
NBCC: The Office of Teaching Innovation and Digital Education at The University of Alabama has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider. This program is approved for 15 credits. ACEP No. 7285. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. The University of Alabama is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
Law Enforcement & Pardons and Parole: The Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles has approved that this training will provide 15 APOST (Alabama Peace Officers Standards & Training Commission) credits.
CRSS: The Alabama Department of Mental Health has approved this program for Certified Recovery Support Specialists for 15 training hours.
