VitAL Receives Grant for Suicide Prevention Efforts
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH) and VitAL are the recipients of a significant grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This grant, known as the Project Zero Suicide in Alabama, represents a substantial investment in suicide prevention efforts in the state of Alabama. Read the full press release here.

Person in recovery shares story of struggle, survival at ASADS Community Night
VitAL and the Alabama Department of Mental Health partnered to bring together more than 100 attendees through a sponsorship of the ASADS Community Night at The University of Alabama’s Bryant Conference Center March 22. The Community Night was a free event which focused on bringing awareness to the issue of recovery from substance use disorder.
Stephen Hill shared his experience with substance use, saying he hopes the lessons he’s learned can save others from what he endured.
Hill said he’s been in recovery for more than 10 years, but hitting rock bottom was a long road, too.
