Alabama Opioid Prevention Summit

VitAL and ADMH are pleased to announce the First Annual Alabama Opioid Prevention Summit. This statewide event will be hosted in two locations across Alabama, providing opportunities for participants to engage in a full day of education focused on the intersection of the justice system and substance use. We look forward to welcoming attendees in Birmingham and Prattville.

The Alabama Opioid Prevention Summit brings together prevention professionals, community leaders, healthcare providers, and policymakers to address the ongoing opioid crisis in Alabama. The summit highlights evidence-based opioid prevention strategies with a focus on practical implementation, sustainability, and evaluation. Participants will explore approaches to building, sustaining, and measuring the impact of prevention programs across diverse communities to support long-term effectiveness and improved health outcomes statewide.

Keynote Speaker

We are thrilled to welcome Ben Westhoff as the keynote speaker for the Alabama Opioid Prevention Summit. An award-winning investigative journalist and bestselling author, Westhoff is widely recognized for his in-depth reporting on the opioid crisis and the rise of synthetic drugs in the United States. His groundbreaking work has shed light on the global fentanyl supply chain and the devastating impact of illicit opioids on communities nationwide.

    NBCC – The Office of Teaching Innovation and Digital Education at The University of Alabama has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider.
